K.P. PARAMESWARAN is a professional, 'A' GRADE (with All India Radio) mridangam Artist, Born on

19-07-1969 at Kodunthirapully Village,Palakkad,Kerala. He had his initial training and solid foundtation from his Grandfather Mridanga Vidwan Late. Sh. Kodunthirapully Swaminatha Iyer, who himself was a direct disciple of Mridangam Maestros Sh. Thanjavur Vaidyanatha Iyer and Sh. Palakkad Mani Iyer. Then he did the Ganabhushanam course in Mridangam under the guidance of Professor Parassala Ravi at Chembai Memorial Music College, Palakkad. After that he had the fortune to have special "GURUKULAVASAM" training under the Mridangam Maestro Sangeethakalanidhi Dr. T.K. Murthy. He learned under Dr. T.K. Murthy for more than 17 years. During his disciplehood with Dr. T.K. Murthy,  he played "Double Mridangam" with his teacher for concert performances and lecture demonstrations. During that time, he was awarded the central government scholarship supporting his prodigious and meritorious talent  in mridangam and for his training under Dr. T.K. Murthy. K.P. PARAMESWARAN is the "Asthana Vidhwan" of Kanchi Madhom and has also been awarded with the title "SANGEETHA THILAKAM" by Thiruvambadi Devaswam of Thrissur, "LAYA VADHYA NIPUNA" by Kerala Brahmana Sabha and "LAYA VIDHYACHARYA MANI" by Nandhikeshwar Thala Vidhyalaya,Chrompet,Chennai. He has accompanied several senior most artists and have earned accolades for his highly traditional style of playing characterized by vibrant strokes and mathematical ingenuity. He has also played in the commercially relseased CD called 35 Thalam, 72 Mela Kartha & 108 Thalam, produced by his Guru, Dr. T.K. Murthy.
